GERMANY 0 - 1  MEXICO The Mexican players kept the German players on their toes throughout the game. It was a pleasure to see them play but the German defence was formidable even for the best of teams. The attack and counterattack  kept the game fast paced and interesting but no goals were scored till the 20th minute, even though number of shots were on target for both the sides. The Mexicans created a lot of chances but were unable to convert any. Finally they converted won. In the second half, the Germans dominated but could not score. The game ended with Germany losing to Mexico 0-1,their 1st defeat in the group stages since 1980's.

WORLD CUP - PORTUGAL VS SPAIN Christiano Ronaldo scored a hattrick in this opening match of Group B as Portugal draw Spain with 3 goals each. When the Portugal went into the first half with a lead of 2-1, they would have been happy to keep the lead but soon into the second half and within the hour, Spain scored two goals with Diego Costa having scored two himself and neutralizing Ronaldo. And then Spain did what they are best at doing, kept the possession of the ball with almost 63%. And they would have won too but Ronaldo had other plans. One mistake and Portugal got a freekick. It was not the easiest of places to score a goal from but my oh my what as exquisite freekick by Ronaldo, swerving and swinging, that carved into the corner of the goal post at the 87th minute and Portugal could successfully draw the match with Spain.
